Keeping It in the Family: Why Hiring Siblings Can Be Great for Business

Posted on 02 April 2026

With National Siblings Day coming up, it feels like the perfect moment to shout out something we’ve learned over the years at thestudio: hiring family members can actually be a huge win.

We’ve had siblings, cousins, even mums and daughters working together, and we’ve seen first-hand how it helps new starters hit the ground running. When someone already has a family member here, they naturally get a bit of extra support and a real, honest feel for what the company’s like. It makes settling in quicker and smoother than usual.

Family links also help with recruitment. When someone recommends their brother, cousin or daughter, it usually means they genuinely enjoy working here—and that trust says a lot. These referrals often bring in people who not only have the right skills but also fit our culture from day one. Plus, word‑of‑mouth hiring can save time, money, and a lot of effort. We do sometimes ask ourselves, “Is our next recruit already in the family?”

Working with family also brings a different kind of commitment. There’s a shared sense of responsibility—to the business and to each other—that naturally boosts motivation and loyalty. Teams with family connections often stick around longer, which helps keep knowledge in‑house and reduces turnover.

And of course, siblings bring a certain energy. They add fun, support, and a bit of that family vibe that rubs off on everyone around them. It helps create a workplace that feels welcoming and connected. It really supports the family feel we have always strived to maintain in our venues.

With National Siblings Day on 10th April, it’s a great chance for us to celebrate the amazing family pairs (and trios!) who are part of our “studio family.”
