Happy International Waffle Day…

Posted on 25 March 2015

Sorry to waffle on, but we just wanted you to know… It’s International Waffle Day!

Ever tried a freshly made studio waffle? Well today’s your chance! Grab one on your afternoon break; tweet us your taste buds’ verdict @studiovenues.

Globe trotter…

These tasty treats can be found all over the globe, from Singapore to U.S.A, waffles have made the world their home. Drenched in maple syrup or crowned with strawberries and cream, with a plate full of choice, this master of meals can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner! (Not to mention they dish up a great dessert).

They’re pure evil!

Medieval to be precise, waffles originated in Europe during the Middle Ages and much like today, were traditionally cooked between two metal plates. Coincidently, when they first debuted, wafer irons embellished with Christian imagery was a hit!

Ready, steady, eat!

In 2007, an individual named Patrick Bertoletti gobbled 29 waffles in 10 minutes! He has definitely taken gorging to a new extreme.

Home grown…

In the red corner we have Dutch Waffle weighing in at 110lbs! No this isn’t a comedic Harry Hill fight moment, Stichting Gouda Oogst created this marvellous meal which measured 2.47m in diameter!  Talk about wacky waffles!
