The Studio Supports Independent Venues Month in Leeds

Conference Leeds, the conferencing bureau for the city of Leeds, is celebrating the return of in-person events to connect with the city’s independent venues through the launch of a month-long campaign which will shine a spotlight on the fantastic range of independent venues the city has to offer.
Independent Venues Month will see the bureau highlight the pivotal role played by the city’s indies by publishing a suite of content designed to inspire conference organisers and delegates alike to explore the unique experiences, benefits and first-class service on offer.
In doing so, the campaign will showcase the range of independent venues operating across the epicentre of the modern North. An epicentre that is acknowledged as the UK’s first city of health innovation, the largest financial centre outside of London, with a fast growing digital and information economy – all of which is being built on top of the manufacturing legacy, industrial leadership and innovation woven into the history of the city.
Through its partnership with the Independent Venues Group (IVG), which includes Horizon, Northern Ballet, Duke Studios, The Studio and Leeds Conservatoire, Conference Leeds has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the industry’s emergence from a particularly challenging period.
In a recent roundtable discussion with the IVG, Conference Leeds identified some of the key considerations organisers and delegates are making and the manner in which these can be catered for by unique venues. These considerations, which have risen to the fore during the industry’s hiatus, include emphasis on sustainability, exceptional catering, cutting-edge technology, creative events planning and the personal touch offered by the teams at the heart of each venue.
Sally Tiplady, Events & Business Development Manager at Northern Ballet and spokesperson for the Independent Venues Group, commented: “We are delighted that Conference Leeds is launching Independent Venues Month which will demonstrate how fundamental our offering is to the city’s recovery post-Covid. The Independent Venues Group have worked closely to support each other throughout the UK lockdown and campaigns such as Independent Venues Month will ensure that our offering is at the forefront for those conference organisers and delegates who want to continue to support smaller, unique venues as we return to pre-pandemic life.”
On the launch of the campaign Claire Heap, Head of Conference Leeds said: “Independent Venues Month aims to raise the profile of the many unique venues which sit at the forefront of Leeds’ conference portfolio. Independent venues are the beating heart of Leeds as their unique offerings and personalised experiences contribute significantly to our city’s character and have a track record of leaving a lasting impression on both domestic and international delegates.”
“Throughout the pandemic, we have become increasingly aware of the importance in supporting our independent venues, all of which provide the perfect backdrop for hosting a memorable conference experience. As we embark on life post-pandemic, it is imperative that we continue to bolster our indies to give delegates the opportunity to experience the exceptional.”
From existing clients to brand new enquiries, conference organisers and delegates are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome from the independent venues and their teams. Conference Leeds also recently launched its interactive map, which makes it easier for conference organisers to find their perfect indie venue and personalise their time in the heart of the North.
