The Big Hoo Ha!
Posted on 31 July 2015
Interested in a great migration? Well, Birmingham is experiencing an influx of Giant Owls! Perching all over the city, from the centre to the outskirts, these vibrant birds will definitely catch your eye. Running from the 20th July – 27th September, these feathery friends will be on display to help raise awareness for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Your last chance at birdwatching will be from 10th-11th October, they’ll be flying the nest soon after as they are being auctioned off in order to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital… what an ingenious way to support a great cause!
Hoot your favourite owl design @studiovenues #thebighoot2015
Walk this way…
In total there are 200 wise owls dotted about Birmingham, the Ozzy Owl being the wisest of course (rock on). This exhibition is in perfect timing with both the school holidays and the lovely British summer, so if you fancy a fun, free, day out why not trek through the concrete jungle on The Big Hoot Trail! thestudio team have managed to snap up quite a few… as you can tell!
Wild at heart…
Have you seen any other Wild in Art projects? They’re worth checking out as this artistic bunch does a lot more than just craft cute owls! Rhinos, dragons and even pigs are all set to populate landscapes all over the UK. They aim to promote “learning through the creative process” and generate funding while they’re at it. We admire those who inspire creativity in all ages, if you’ve been to one of our venues it’s quite apparent thestudio loves all things bright and colourful.
The Big Sc-hoot…
Minus the yellow jersey, our budding “Tour de Francer” Lawrence will be putting the pedal to the metal in all out endurance battle cycling from Leeds … to Birmingham! As our Leeds venue opens on the 7th September, we thought it would be a nice compliment to The Big Hoot to bike up in owl attire! However for Lawrence’s and other road users’ safety, we thought it would be best for him to wear an owl mask back to front… As they do say, owls have eyes at the back of their head!
Eyes peeled…
Acting as our very own wise owl, Lawrence will be spurred on by studio staff and the fund he’ll be raising for Birmingham Children’s Hospital! We haven’t set a date yet but watch this space as we’ll keep you updated on our twitter @studiovenues!
